DiamondBack DB380 Pistol

As requested, and reposted. This is a repost of a review that was done on 2/10/2011

Recently I purchased a Diamondback DB380 Pistol.

The first thing that you will notice about this small pocket pistol is that it looks like a Baby Glock. The 6+1 capacity of this weapon is sufficent for he size and the round that is carried. The weapon comes in a locking plastic hard case and comes with 1 magazine. I bought 2 extra magazines with a finger extension.

The features on this pistol are very similar, including how to take it down. I have seen some very mixed reviews on this gun, and my personal experience has been nothing short of flawless. First, I cleaned and lubed the pistol. I then racked the slide about 200 times. I personally think that this helps with the break-in of the weapon. Some will disagree with me on this one, but to each their own. I bought 2 boxes of UMC, 2 boxes of PMC Brass, 2 boxes of Sellier & Bellot, and 2 boxes of Winchester White Box. All rounds are FMJ, each box is 50 rounds. This pistol fed everything I could feed it. I had 2 issues with FTF when I fired these rounds, ALL WERE MY FAULT - NOT THE WEAPON. The first time was due to the trigger reset (which I don't care for, more about that later), the second was due to my sweaty fingers slipped off the slide after 150 rounds. Also, I was bit 3 times by the slide, but that was due to my gripping.

I would recommend some grip tape on the side. Grouping was great at 7 and 10 yards, a little left at 25 yards, but the pistol has adjustable sights - I have not adjusted them. Most pistols this size don't have a full (if any) compliment of sights on them. The one problem I have with this weapon is there is no slide lock, and the slide must be racked (for trigger reset) before loading the first round. This is something that I really do not like on this gun, because IF you would happen to get into a SHTF situation and you go to reload and forget, you will get a FTF - EVERY TIME. I have tried this several times with snap caps and it does a FTF everytime you do not do a trigger reset.

The next time I go to the range, I plan on making a video. There were too many people in there last time.

I carry mine in a Desantis Nemisis holster.
For a pocket gun, this is a great small 6+1 weapon to carry, and the weight makes it so light, that you won't leave it at home, even when wearing shorts. Overall, I am extremley happy with this weapon for a 350.00 price tag off the shelf, and I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Pros:
Lightweight
Sights
Fit and Finish
Breakdown

Cons:
Can slip around in your hand a bit
No safety - if pocket carrying a holster is a MUST!!
Trigger reset before loading first round
No slide lock
