5.11 Responder Hi-Vis Parka

Over the summer I bought a 5.11 Responder Hi-Vis Parka for winter use.
Since the federal guidelines have changed for working on a roadway, we now have to have some sort of high visibility coat. I picked up the coat at Leon Uniform Company, and you can find it on the 5.11 Tactical website here. I had the word FIRE in 4 inch tall reflective letters put on the back of the coat, I had my last name put on a wide velcro backed name tape (which I do not understand why they didn't make this velcro spot the normal length and height) and I had the inner jacket embroidered with my department logo. The first thing you will notice about this coat is there are pockets everywhere!! 5.11 has never been skimpy with pockets. Most of there gear has a bunch. There is a radio pocket on the left chest and mic tabs on the front of the coat, and the front pockets of the coat have a hand warmer built in. The cargo style pockets on top of them have plenty of room in them. There are even pockets on the sleeves near your elbow. I currently do not put anything in these pockets. The storm flap will protect you from rain, snow, and wind. There is even a built in hood. I would not recommend doing any embroidery work on the front of the coat, as this will screw up the water seal. Moving inside, if you have the liner (really another fleece coat) installed, you have an inside pocket. Did I mention anything about how warm this thing is? Put it this way, I was used to wearing a Blauer coat before for work, and I would get really cold or start sweating inside of it. Not in this coat. Now I am not saying that you won't work up a sweat in one of these, but the way it is designed, it seems to wick it away from you. The coat can be worn as a parka, with or without the liner, and just the fleece liner itself. This is definately become my new 3 season coat while at work. In fact, I wear the fleece liner quite a bit when I am not at work. It just looks that good.
